Craigie In The Bin As Terrace Clinch Win

OWEN Craigie was in the sin-bin when Raymond Terrace scored the matchwinning try to beat Macquarie 22-8 at Peacock Field last night.
The former NRL star played half a game in third grade to qualify and helped the Magpies to a convincing win in greasy conditions at Toronto.Macquarie struck the first blow when Jacob Briggs whipped an inside ball to back-rower David Cox and he sent Jay Bolton over.The Scorpions were without player-coach Dan Quinn for most of the first half after he was sent to the blood bin. He was forced to return late in the half when his front-row partner Mark Reed was carried off with a knee injury.Craigie took the field in the 20th minute at five-eighth and starting pivot Kyle Payne went to hooker.Terrace captain-coach Gavin Cook made the first raid for the Magpies, and from the next play fullback Joel Osborne crashed over for a 6-4 lead after 32 minutes.Terrace extended their lead to 12-4 two minutes before the bell, then Macquarie hit back 15 minutes into the second half when Jay Bolton scored his second to trail 12-8.Macquarie lost five-eighth Jacob Briggs and Terrace lost Craigie to the sin-bin in the 62nd minute of the match after a scuffle in the middle of the ground.Terrace sealed the win when back-rower Peter Ellis scored inside the last 10 minutes.Lakes United captain-coach Ian Bourke received bad news before last night's 11-11 draw with Wyong at Cahill Oval. Bourke, who was hoping to return from an arthroscope in four weeks, had another operation this week and will miss the remainder of the season.Wyong captain Dean Amos stole a point for the Roos when he kicked a field goal after the full-time siren.South Newcastle will be without prop Aaron Dyett for the rest of the season after he snapped his Achilles at training.The Lions trailed 10-0 at half-time before going down 34-6 to Nelson Bay at Tomaree Oval.In last night's other games, Western Suburbs beat Kurri 34-0 and Cessnock beat Maitland 14-4.
